SCSU Dial-up Access for Faculty and Staff

Windows 2000

Requirements

  • Be a current faculty or staff member at SCSU
  • Have a valid HuskyNetID and password
  • Have a working modem installed in your computer.

Instructions

  1. Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the Windows desktop.
  2. Double-click the "Control Panels" folder, then the "Network and Dial-Up Connections" folder. Double-click the "Make New Connection" icon to start the wizard. When the wizard comes up click "Next" to continue. A screen like the one below should appear.

  3. Next the "Internet Connection Wizard" will appear. Click where is says "I want to setup my Internet connection manually..." and click on the Next button. Now click where it says "I connect through a phone line and a modem" and click on the Next button.

  4. In the next screen, type SCSU's Internet access telephone number. The numbers are shown below and are current as of August of 2003. You may wish to call the HelpDesk at (320) 308-2077 for a updated list of numbers if you have problems connecting the numbers provided below.

  5. Click Next to continue. On the next screen enter your HuskyNet username and password.

  6. Click the Next button. In this screen enter the name of your connection; "SCSU" is a good choice. Click the Next button again. If it asks you to setup an email account click no. Click Next to finish.
  7. To connect to the Internet, click on the Internet Explorer icon. A window should pop up asking to connect. Click Connect.
