SCSU Dial-up Access for Faculty and Staff

Windows XP

Requirements

  • Be a current faculty or staff member at SCSU
  • Have a valid HuskyNetID and password
  • Have a working modem installed in your computer.

Instructions

  1. Click on the Start Button in the lower left corner of your screen. Go to Connect To and choose Show All Connections.
  2. Click the Create a new connection link on the left side of the screen. If this is the first time you have opened the Network Connections folder, the Right side of the screen will be blank.

  3. Click Next to Begin The wizard will now guide you through the new connection process.
  4. The next screen allows you to choose what type of connection you want to setup. Choose Connect to the Internet.

  5. The next option allows you to manually set up your connection.

  6. In the next option, choose Connect using a dial-up modem.
  7. Name your connection: The Connection Name section of the wizard asks for an ISP Name. Choose any name you wish
  8. In the next screen, type SCSU's Internet access telephone number.

  9. Enter your user name and password.

  10. The setup process is now complete. Click the finish button.

  11. You are now ready to connect. To connect, press the Dial button.
  12. If all goes well, your computer should connect, and Windows XP will indicate connection by an icon in the system tray.
