Software Development and Reporting

Web Application Development

The programming staff is responsible for developing local applications for St. Cloud State University. Many of the local applications are developed for the web, making them easily accessible on a 24-hour basis. They provide service related to these local applications and can also support interfaces from ISRS to other applications.

Application Development

The programming staff utilizes many forms of software development to provide applications and interfaces that are customized for the specific needs of St. Cloud State University departments. Users in these departments may make use of these custom applications via standard software such as Access and COBOL.

Reporting Services

The programmers also provide reporting services. Reports may be processed on a cyclical basis to meet the needs of administrative departments.

Ad hoc Requests

Ad hoc reports are also processed by request. These are reports that are not needed on a routine basis, but are requested when a specific need for data arises. Output may be hard copy printouts, special forms such as mailing labels, data files in most common file sharing formats, or other media as needed. All FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), confidentiality, and data privacy rules and policies are enforced. For on-campus requests, there will be a chargeback for supplies (mailing labels, etc.) used. For off-campus users, there will be a charge for staff time, computer time and supplies.
