Networking
Staff maintain and design the campus computer network infrastructure,
equipment and services. They provide technical support and connect the
SCSU community to the campus network.

System Administration
Staff design, install and maintain the campus-wide computer server infrastructure.
Staff also provides support and assistance for many of the campus services
such as:
- Campus Wide Exchange Mail servers
- Campus Web Servers
- Database Servers
- Authentication Services
- Campus Printing Servers
- File Servers
- Departmental and Personal File Space

Database Applications / Applications Development
Staff develop and maintain institutional databases, work with MnSCU data and services, write and maintain various programs and scripts. Staff are responsible for a number of dynamic web-based applications such as Serials, SCSU people search, computer registration, Lab Seats, HuskyNetID activation, Time clock system and password reset.

Institutional Effectiveness
Staff support the Office of Institutional Development
that facilitate the integration of planning, institutional research, and assessment to encourage the continuous and dynamic improvement of the University’s programs and services.

|
Workstation/Applications
In addition to the many department computer labs,
SCSU provides the campus with Windows and Macintosh computers in General
Access Lab facilities. Staff also provide technical support in the James
W. Miller Learning Resources Building. The staff also handles software
licensing contracts.

|
Security
Security has become an increasingly important aspect to the campus
community. Staff provide assistance in preventing and respond to computer
and network security incidents.

|
Projects
Staff utilize project management methodologies to plan, implement, and evaluate projects related to technology for the ITS department.

|
|
Computer Store
Students, staff, and faculty consult with Computer Store staff to
choose computer hardware and software and then buy their equipment
for campus offices or personal use. Discounts that SCSU receives from

HELPDESK
Full- and part-time staff members help students, staff and faculty
with hardware and software problems. They take questions over the phone,
from walk-in customers, and through e-mail. They offer specialized

COMPUTER and TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Staff members work out of offices located in SOE, SHHS, HBS, COSE, LRS, ITS, and
Atwood, giving fast, close-at-hand computing and technical
help to faculty and staff.

|
GENERAL ACCESS (Open) LAB COORDINATION
Staff coordinate activities in the 13 general access (open) labs across
campus. They work with the faculty and the computer coordinators in
the academic colleges to ensure that the lab facilities continue to
meet student needs.

|
OPERATIONS/USER IDs/MAINTENANCE REPAIRS
Staff create and maintain user identification codes (user Ids) for
new faculty and staff. They monitor and arrange computer hardware maintenance
and repair services, and coordinate printer operations.

|
ResNet
ResNet provides residence hall students with high-speed access to
the Internet, to campus networks, and to networked laser printers.
More than 3,100 Internet jacks are installed in SCSU residence halls.

|
Library Systems Support
The Library staff in the James
W. Miller Learning Resources Building have specific technology needs relating to library systems and services. ITS provides support for these library systems.
