Classroom Performance System

Getting started with the Classroom Performance System

Welcome to SCSU’s Classroom Performance System (CPS). If you would like to use a CPS in one more of your courses, here are the steps you will need to take:

Step 1. Check to see whether the room you are scheduled to use is equipped for the CPS.
18 rooms will be set up to work with the system.

If you would like to use a room that is not already equipped for the CPS, you can request a free Instructor's test kit from eInstruction to use in many other rooms. (See step 2.)

Step 2: Contact eInstruction
The first time you use the CPS you will need to get an Instructor Setup Code. Send an e-mail to sjunior@einstruction.com with the following information:

  • Name of Instructor
  • Name of course
  • Expected course enrollment
  • UPS shipping address (including street number and room number)
  • Phone number

At this point eInstruction will send you an e-mail with your Instructor Setup Code.

If you are not using one of SCSU's 18 pre-equipped rooms you will also receive the test kit free of charge. The test kit includes 1 RF receiver, 1 RF response pad, our CPS software, and an instruction manual.

Step 3: Complete the order form for student response pads
You can place your order in one of three ways:

You will be asked to provide the course number and section of the class(es) for which you would like to use the CPS.

Husky Bookstore will then order response pads and make them available for your students to purchase. They will cost $21.50 at the Bookstore. Students can also buy their registration card at the Husky Bookstore for $20.

Registration can also be purchased online for $10 at
www.einstruction.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Login.Display&Menu=login.

Step 4: Request training
SCSU's InforMedia Services is offering individual and group training on the CPS for instructors planning to use it. More information…

Step 5: Inform your students
We recommend that your syllabi include

  • Class Key (students use this to enroll their response pad into your class)
  • A privacy information statement and some cautions
  • General information about the CPS and how you will be using it in your courses
  • See Guidelines for Use for more information
