About the Classroom Performance SystemSCSU’s Classroom Performance System (CPS) is a student response system that uses wireless response pads, commonly known as “clickers,” to allow students to interact with instructors and answer questions in real time, with the click of a button. SCSU’s CPS is installed in classrooms that have 75 or more seats, so if you have an auditorium class, you might be using the CPS. Answers at your fingertipsIf you have a class that uses the CPS, the response pad and registration card will be listed with the required books and materials on the course tag in the Husky Bookstore and at www.husky.bkstr.com. If you don't already have one, you will need to buy a response pad. You will also need to purchase a separate registration card for each semester that you have a class that uses the CPS. You can purchase your response pad at the Husky Bookstore on campus. Your registration card can be purchased at the Husky Bookstore or online through eInstruction, our supplier. The CPS allows you to use your response pad to anonymously respond to your instructor’s questions during class. The response pad, which looks like a remote control, sends a wireless signal to a “base station” computer with a receiver connected to it. SCSU’s CPS, supplied by eInstruction, uses a new radio frequency (RF) response pad, which transmits information much like cordless phones and wireless computing devices. These response pads have text capabilities and allow you to verify that your answers are getting registered. A classroom that clicksHow the CPS is used depends the instructor. For example, you might need to click your attendance each class period. Your instuctor might ask a few questions at the end of each lecture and give you points based on your answers or use class responses to instantly gauge how well everyone understands a topic. If you have questions about the CPS in your class, be sure to ask your instructor. You will also find more information at the eInstruction Web site. |
