ResNet: SCSU's Residence Hall Network

 

If you would like to register a game console for use on the Internet through SCSU’s ResNet, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

*You must provide your device's MAC address. A MAC address is a 12-character code (containing numbers and the letters a-f) that uniquely identifies your device on the network. Instructions for finding the MAC address of various game consoles are listed below. If the game console you have is not listed below, please consult the device's manual.

Instructions for finding MAC address

Microsoft Xbox

  1. Turn on your Xbox console with no game disc in the disc tray.
  2. From the Xbox Dashboard, select Settings.
  3. From the Settings screen, select Network Settings.
  4. The 12-character number at the bottom-right corner of the Network Settings screens is the MAC Address of your Xbox console.
  5. Double check the MAC address. On a TV screen it is easy to confuse the letter D with the number 0 and the letter B with the number 8.
  6. When you are sure you have the correct MAC address, enter it in the Game Console Registration Form above.

Microsoft Xbox 360

  1. Turn on your Xbox console with no game disc in the disc tray.
  2. From the Dashboard, move over to the purple System tab on the far right.
  3. Go to Network Settings and select Edit Settings.
  4. Move to the right tab labeled Additional Settings, then move down to Advanced Settings and press A.
  5. Your MAC address will be listed on this screen on the left side under Wired MAC Address.
  6. Double check the MAC address. On a TV screen it is easy to confuse the letter D with the number 0 and the letter B with the number 8.
  7. When you are sure you have the correct MAC address, enter it in the Game Console Registration Form above.

Nintendo Wii

Note: The Nintendo Wii will not work on our wirless network due to an unknown issue. If you wish to use a Wii on the wired network, purchase the Nintendo Wii LAN Adpater.

Follow the instructions below to find the MAC address of your Wii LAN Adapter:

  1. Turn on your Wii, from the main screen click on the Wii button in the lower left corner of the screen.
  2. From here, select Wii Settings.
  3. Click the right arrow to move to Wii System Settings 2. Select Internet.
  4. Click on Console Information.
  5. The 12-character MAC address will be listed under USB Ethernet Adapter MAC address.
  6. Double check the MAC address. On a TV screen it is easy to confuse the letter D with the number 0 and the letter B with the number 8.
  7. When you are sure you have the correct MAC address, enter it in the Game Console Registration Form above.

Sony Playstation 2

There are two versions of the PS2: a slimline version manufactured after September 2004, and the original PS2.
Slimline PS2

  1. Turn on your PS2 console with no game disc in the disc tray.
  2. From the main screen, press the triangle button.
  3. This will bring up the System Information screen where the 12-character MAC address will be listed.
  4. Double check the MAC address. On a TV screen it is easy to confuse the letter D with the number 0 and the letter B with the number 8.
  5. When you are sure you have the correct MAC address, enter it in the Game Console Registration Form above.

Original PS2

  1. Turn on your PS2 console with the Network Startup Disk in the disc tray.
  2. When the connection testing fails, press the Select button on the controller for help, and the 12-character MAC Address should be displayed in a Help prompt.
  3. Double check the MAC address. On a TV screen it is easy to confuse the letter D with the number 0 and the letter B with the number 8.
  4. When you are sure you have the correct MAC address, enter it in the Game Console Registration Form above.

Sony Playstation 3

  1. Navigate to the Settings icon (located on the far left).
  2. Navigate up/down until you see the System Settings icon. Press the X button.
  3. Scroll up/down until you see System Information. Press the X button. The 12-character MAC Address will be listed here.
  4. Double check the MAC address. On a TV screen it is easy to confuse the letter D with the number 0 and the letter B with the number 8.
  5. When you are sure you have the correct MAC address, enter it in the Game Console Registration Form above.

Sony Playstation Portable

  1. Navigate to the Settings icon (located on the far left).
  2. Navigate up/down until you see the System Settings icon. Press the X button.
  3. Scroll up/down until you see System Information. Press the X button.
  4. The MAC Address will be listed here.
  5. When you are sure you have the correct MAC address, enter it in the Game Console Registration Form above.
